In a groundbreaking ceremony, BITS Pilani's Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) division conferred degrees on 7,839 working professionals, marking a significant milestone in education technology. The hybrid convocation, held in the Metaverse, saw 1,000 graduates attend in person, while over 6,800 participated virtually from across the globe, including 111 from 26 countries.
The innovative use of Metaverse technology enabled graduates to experience a near-realistic convocation environment, complete with personalized 3D avatars receiving degrees on a virtual stage. This second successive hybrid convocation showcased the power of technology in education.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Saskia Loer Hansen, Dr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, and Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, addressed the students, celebrating their academic achievements in various MBA, M.Tech., (link unavailable), and B.Tech. programmes.
